this is a continuation of yesterday’s post about my friend June.
I definitely don’t identify as a portrait artist, but I do really enjoy drawing people. Each and every one is interesting and wonderful in their uniqueness. But likeness — how much a drawing looks like a specific person — has always been very challenging for me.
The more I know & like someone, the harder it is to capture how they objectively look. Maybe because I know some of their complexity, maybe because there’s so much pressure to get it right, maybe because I know how I got it wrong.
But not this time! With June’s portrait, I kinda nailed it.
